2023 Westfield Local Hero St Lukes

Natasha Jumelet was recognised by the community for her services with Deaf Wellbeing Society. She was voted as the Local Hero at Westfield St Lukes and Natasha won $20,000. This money will allow Deaf Wellbeing to continue its free services to the NZ Deaf community.

NZSL in the Media

This organization has utilized various media platforms to support the wellbeing of the Deaf community.
They have:
  • made over 200 NZSL cooking demonstrations from the community and invite guests
  • provided 75 different NZSL videos on how to compose different styles of art work
  • Information on Facebook and Instagram are all in NZSL
  • Their weekly NZSL e-newsletter shares what they have and are going to be doing and includes some NZSL national news.
For their continued commitment to keeping the Deaf community connected and informed the award for NZSL in the Media goes to Deaf Wellbeing Society

She was so excited and very humbled when She realised that Abbie, Monica and Natasha had nominated her.

Deaf Wellbeing Society is always expanding and continually brings joy to many members of the Deaf community.

She wishes her award had space for all the wonderful volunteers names that Deaf Wellbeing Society has! We could not achieve the great things we do without your dedicated help and commitment.
